Kwaw Ansah

Biography

Kwaw Ansah was born in Ghana, the son of a photographer-dramatist-musician. He attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and the American Music and Dramatic Academy, and studied television production in Los Angeles. For several years, he worked as a production assistant and set designer in the Ghana film founder of Target Advertising Service (1973) and Film Africa (1977), Ansah has also written several plays, one of which has been produced off-Broadway. His first feature, Love Brewed in the African Pot (1981), has been called the most popular African film among Africans. His last film Heritage Africa won the Grand Prize at FESPACO in 1989.
