”STEVIE WONDER IN GHANA: IN SEARCH OF A BLESSED LIFE" Directed by Akosua Busia, is a compelling journey through early childhood memories retold by the Legendary artist and Humanitarian, Stevie Wonder himself. In his own words; through a series of interviews, intercut with archival footage, we are given a ring-side seat into how the boy genius, playing and singing for coins in the street, became the world renown, “Little Stevie Wonder” and “The Eight Wonder of the World”. The documentary highlights his belief and faith in God, and his efforts and desire for a kinder, more peaceful world. The journey brings us to Ghana where Stevie Wonder touched down in Accra, returning on his 74th birthday, May 13th 2024. A few hours after his arrival, the 25 Grammy Award winning artist was conferred Ghanaian Citizenship, presided over by the President of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo. Throughout the documentary we become witnesses of Stevie's prior “homecomings” to Ghana with archival footage reaching back 30 years. The spearheading purpose of Stevie's 2024 trip is to watch a birthday screening of the full-length feature film ~ “In Search of A Blessed Life - He That Hath,” for which Stevie composes the Title Song “Bless My Way” with lyrics by Akosua Busia.
The documentary captures Wonder's profound exploration of his African roots and his quest for spiritual fulfilment for all. The One hour Forty minutes with the genius in every frame, offers an intimate look into his life raised in the challenging segregated atmosphere of the American South, and his experiences as he embraces his African heritage. The Film “In Search of A Blessed Life” (after which this Documentary is named) is honoured to be Stevie Wonder’s first Ghana-based project as a citizen of the country.
