The KIDflix Film Fest! is the longest-running kids’ film festival in Brooklyn. Presented by MoCADA since 2000, this annual, interactive program offers kids and their families access to a free, outdoor, film screening every Friday night in the month of August. The festival’s biggest highlight is its closing event, which always includes a Sing & Dance-Along presentation of The Wiz, featuring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson, and a costume contest, free popcorn, live performances, free face painting, and more. This year’s screenings, which are inspired by the theme By Any Dreams Necessary, will continue this tradition and will be presented in partnership with the African Film Festival, Inc., and the New York Council on the Arts’ Electronic Media and Film program. Due to COVID-19 and the impact on our community, this year’s KIDflix Film festival will be completely virtual (no outdoor activities).
