The 2018 AFF National Traveling Series package consists of seven films from our 2017 New York African Film Festival, which was presented under the theme “The Peoples’ Revolution.” Illuminating the new wave of artists throughout Africa and its diaspora seeking reform and effecting it via sociopolitical action, this year’s edition of the National Traveling Series spotlights these individuals who exist where values of human rights, civic duty, and the democratic, unrestricted nature of technology increasingly become interdependent. Within this sphere, ideas of identity, culture, and notions of “home” are rewired, functioning in ways markedly distinct from previous generations.
