Danièle Roy
Danièle Roy grew up in Montreal, Canada. Ever since she was a child, she enjoyed painting and drawing. In her twenties, she visited Senegal and was captivated by the different dyeing techniques for fabrics, especially batik. She taught and practiced this art for several years before continuing her studies in 1987 in film and animation at Concordia University in Montreal. There, she met Cilia Sawadogo and a friendship was formed. They received a scholarship for the “year end screening" and came up with the idea for The Woman Married to Three Men which they co-directed. It was released in theaters in 1993. Since then, Danièle Roy worked on various TV projects before directing her own series, “Child’s Dream,” a collection of 26 short animated films produced by Megafun Productions in 1997. The series was distributed in Europe and America. Today, Danièle lives in the Laurentian mountains where she paints watercolors and takes long walks in the forest. Learn More
