Set in Mozambique at the end of the colonial period, Firipe is a barber who works under a huge tree in the busy square with his assistant Gaspar Vivito. To attract and impress his customers, Firipe has no hesitation in inventing stories about famous clients who have had their hair cut by him, including Sidney Poitier.
Francisco Villa-Lobos
Internationally awarded film producer Francisco Villa-Lobos, studied Photography at the António Arroio School and graduated in Cinematographic Production at the Lisbon School of Theater and Cinema (1990). After working as an assistant director, in particular with Manoel de Oliveira, he went on to produce. He has produced films that have been awarded in the most important festivals and have been commercially released in Portugal and abroad, for over twenty years. He has photographed constantly during his film career, having exhibited in several European cities and obtained a grant from the Oriente Foundation for a photographic trip to Macao. He has participated in juries at international film festivals, organized workshops with renowned photographers and assisted in the development and production of photographic projects and cinematographic backgrounds.
