Haminiaina Ratovoarivony (Hamy Ratovo) is a writer-director, actor and producer born in 1977 in Madagascar. He graduated in sociology in his home country before studying cinema in France. He is part of the new generation of Malagasy filmmakers who are fighting for the revival of cinema in Madagascar. His documentary, Madame le Pasteur (2005), was co-produced by France Télévisions and his self-produced feature film debut, Malagasy Mankany a.k.a Legends of Madagascar (2012), received several prizes at international film festivals.
