Orisha’s Journey is a fantasy tale of a girl’s journey through the spirit world (‘Orisha’ denotes a spirit in Yoruba cosmology), who must learn about the importance of remembering one’s roots. The film, set in a mysterious walking forest, explores the power of a child’s imagination and the deep meanings and manifestations of Africa.
Abdul Ndadi
An animator of Ghanaian descent living in New York City, Abdul Ndadi is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts. His thesis film Orisha's Journey, (which is based on African folklore) has had some success within the festival circuit with various screenings across the globe; including the Hiroshima International Animation Festival, Cairo International Children's Film Festival, New York African Film Festival and Festival de Cannes (Short Film Corner). His work has been featured in OkayAfrica Magazine and the Atlanta Black Star and he's also appeared on television interviews with the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC News) and Divine Speech in African Traditionalism (U.S. Cable TV). A believer in the strength of human spirit to overcome all adversities, with his work he'd like to provide a platform for those who feel voiceless and help build a bridge of common understanding for all peoples.
