Marabout is the story of a police detective in Dakar who pursues a group of street kids after they steal from him, only to learn about the dangers they are exposed to in their daily lives.

Alassane Sy

Alassane Sy was born in Mauritania
 and relocated to Senegal in the mid-eighties. Sy moved
 to Paris and then later New York,
 where a career in modeling
 brought him to the attention of
 director Andrew Dosunmu who cast Sy in the lead role for his feature 
film Restless City. This is
 where Sy’s acting career began. His directorial debut was the short film Marabout, which is currently on the festival circuit after premiering at the 2016 Carthage Festival in Tunis and has received international acclaim.
