In 1941, a young man from Trinidad named Ulric Cross leaves his island home to seek his fortune. He emerges from World War II as the RAF’s most decorated West Indian. Cross’s long life spanned key moments of the 20th century, including independence in Africa and the Caribbean. Shot in Ghana, the United Kingdom, and Trinidad and Tobago, the film is not just about his life but also the transformative times in which he lived, and tells the untold story of those Caribbean professionals who helped to liberate Africa from colonialism.

Frances-Anne Solomon

Frances-Anne Solomon is an award-winning filmmaker, producer, curator and entrepreneur in film, TV, Radio and new media. Following a successful career as a TV Drama Producer and Executive Producer with the BBC in England, Frances-Anne launched the CaribbeanTales Media Group in Canada and Barbados, which includes Production, International Distribution, and Industry Training worldwide. Frances-Anne has just completed her latest feature film HERO: Inspired by the Extraordinary Life and Times of Mr. Ulric Cross, which, while in development, won the Best Feature Pitch at Discop 2016. Solomon was the recipient of the 2018 Visionary Award from the ReelWorld Film Festival. In July, 2019 Solomon was one of 842 new members invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. She lives between Toronto, Canada, and Barbados. Learn More
