About the Director

Mohamed Fawi

Mohamed Fawi is a 31-year-old Khartoum-based freelance producer, director, and impact producer. After graduating from Telecommunications Engineering, he pursued a career in filmmaking, majoring in independent film production.
In Sudan, he worked with UN agencies, NGOs, ministries, businesses, and cultural organizations to direct a number of documentaries. He also worked with the Goethe Institute, British Council, UNDP, UNICEF, USAID, Ministry of Health and Population, Zain Telecom, and the GIAD. He also directed documentaries, news stories, and video clips for SWR, BBC, Qatar Foundation, and IFA-Germany.

Furthermore, he directed Wheat Trap – a one-hour documentary that aired on Alaraby TV in London and was featured at several screenings and talks in Khartoum on the reasons for and effectiveness of international aid in the developing world. He also worked as a studio coordinator and main trainer during the Arab Digital Expression Foundation's (ADEF) annual camps for young people in Egypt in 2014 and 2015.
Additionally, Doc Society in London and Beirut DC recently trained and chose him as a regional trainer for the Impact labs in the Arab world and North Africa to teach the theory of social impact for films. Learn More
