Toni Strasburg
An internationally recognized documentary director, producer, and writer, Toni Strasburg grew up in South Africa and went to Britain as an exile in 1965 where she earned a degree in Sociology at London University. Her best-known films are the multi-award winning Chain of Tears, about the effects of war on children in Southern Africa, and its sequel, Chain of Hope. Amongst her better-known European films are The Other Bomb and the series Picture of Health, while her Southern African films include Destructive Engagement and Spoils of War. Recently she has made several films for the BBC World ‘Life’ series, one of which, An Act of Faith, about the Phelophepa Health Train in South Africa, won the prestigious Freddie Award in New York.
