Tawanda Gunda Mupengo toof part in the UNESCO Film and Television Training Project in Harare, Zimbabwe. He has since directed a number of shorts and documentaries, including Tanyaradzwa (2005) and Spell My Name (Peretera Maneta - 2005). He is one of the most promising young directors from Zimbabwe. In 2006, he took first prize in an Africa-wide film festival organized by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to heighten awareness about gender-based violence across the continent.
