Tariq Tarey is a multifaceted professional with a passion for social justice, art, and storytelling. As the Director of Refugee Social Services at Jewish Family Services in Columbus, Ohio, Tariq advocates for and serves refugees, offering critical support and resources for their resettlement.

Beyond his dedication to community service, Tariq is also an accomplished documentary photographer and filmmaker. His stunning exhibitions, including Forlorn in Ohio and Bhutanese-Nepali Neighbors have been displayed at prestigious venues such as the Ohio History Connection and the Rutherford B. Hayes Museum. Tariq's work has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Ohio Museums Association's Best of Show and the Ohio Art Council's Individual Artist Award.

Tariq's commitment to art and social justice is reflected in his film work as well. He directed Women, War and Resettlement: Nasro's Journey, which was broadcast on WOSU Public Television, and The Darien Gap , which was shown at the 2nd United States Conference on African Immigrant and Refugee Health.

Currently, Tariq is working on an exciting new project: a book documenting the diverse refugee populations in Central Ohio. With his unique perspective and artistic skill, Tariq is sure to shed light on the struggles and triumphs of those who have found a new home in the heartland of America.
