Robert Hutter was born in 1964 in Ludwigshafen, Germany. He lives and works in Ludwigshafen, Germany with his partner Ingrid Mwangi. Both studied sculpture and painting at the Alanus Hochschule für Künst und Gesellschaft, Alfter/Bonn Germany, 1988-90, and new artistic media at Hochschule der Bildenden Künst Saar, Saarbrücken, Germany (Mwangi, 1996-2002; Hutter 1990-2006). Working across video, installation, photography and performance, Mwangi and Hutter have collaborated on numerous works, including Next Flag I: Ingrid Mwangi and Robert Hutter, Godfried Donkor at Casino Luxembourg – Forum d'art Contemporain, Luxembourg, 2003, and Video Works-Ingrid Mwangi and Robert Hutter at the Nairobi Arts Trust/Center of Contemporary Art of East Africa and GoDown Arts Center in Nairobi, Kenya (2003).
