Lamia Alami is a 'nomad' rooted in the spirit of a rich mixed heritage, a rebel with a cause, a lover of the mystical, a cinema addict and a culture aficionado. She is half Moroccan, a quarter Swiss and a quarter Polish. Lamia was born and raised in Casablanca, Morocco where she draws most of her artistic inspiration and fuel. Lamia’s passion for social activism and cultural exploration are her core reasons to write and direct films. Her films are geared to reflect an appreciation and understanding of cultures and peoples, and a critical portrayal of repression and injustice. Lamia moved to New York, the home of independent thinking and creativity in order to pursue her dream and refine her vision. She attended NYU Tisch Graduate Film School in order to pursue her MFA in writing/directing.
