The 2016 short film, The Letter Carrier marks Jesse L. Martin’s directing debut. A prominent stage, television and film actor, he is most beloved for his work originating the roll of Tom Collins in Rent on and off Broadway, Ed Green on Law and Order and most recently as Joe west on The Flash. In addition to co-directing, Jesse wrote the script and lyrics for The Letter Carrier, taking inspiration from a childhood story told within his own family. Fable or folklore, The Letter Carrier is a tale born of tremendous hardship where rhythm, rhyme and melody become tools of empowerment and perseverance.
