Ibrahima Seydi is a French author and director of Senegalese heritage, born in 1981 in a small village in the middle of the Niokolo-Koba National Park, Senegal. In 1986, he moved to France. In primary school, he wrote and directed the short film Juste fait la pas, which won a prize at a local festival. In high school, he directed a short film entitled Why, about bullying. He was awarded at the Regard Jeune sur la Cité festival, dedicated to supporting young talents from Paris’ suburbs, which lead him to attending the CLCF (French Cinema Conservatory Film School). He then began working as an assistant director on short and medium-length projects before returning to Senegal for several months. He co-directed the film, Mama Bobo in 2017, along with Robin Andelfinger. The film was nominated for Best Short Film at Luxor African Film Festival and won Best Film at the Grenoble Short Film Festival in 2017.
