Ian Phillips was born and raised in New York City. His first feature documentary Coach Jake premiered at the Urbanworld Film Festival in September of 2017 and was distributed by First Fun Features. He is also a co-founder of Willful Productions along with his frequent collaborator, Otoja Abit.
