Ian Padrón is a Cuban director and screenwriter. He has directed countless documentaries and short films. He was born in March 1976 in Havana. He is the son of the director Juan Padrón. He gradated from Instituto Superior de Arte de Cuba, from the department of Cinema, Radio and Television. From a very young age he collaborated on writing scripts for the Zunzún magazine and for the animated series Filminutos by the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry (ICAIC). In 1997 he did his first professional job for ICAIC, the making-of Amor Vertical. In 2000 he produced his fiction short film Motos, his first graduation thesis produced in 35mm at the Instituto Superior de Arte. One of his most recognized and controversial works is Fuera de Liga, his first documentary feature film, which addresses the subject of baseball in Cuba. In July of 2010, he began focusing on a new aspect of his work with a radio space dedicated to soundtracks for audiovisuals, within the Taíno radio station.
