Author, photographer and director, Fabio Caramaschi is a graduate in Philosophy of Language from the Sapienza University of Rome. As a still photographer for film and reportage, he has created numerous monographic exhibitions and publications. After spending time working on his first anthropological and ethnological films produced by the National Museum of Arts and Popular Traditions, he devoted himself to directing television broadcast services for the TV channels Rai 1, Rai 2, Rai 3, Rai Educational, LA7, BBC World and CNN. The documentary films that he has written, directed and cinematographed have won many awards, including: the "Pegaso d'Oro" Award at the Ennio Flaiano in 2001, the Italian Premio Libero Bizzarri for Doc in 2002, the Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Rome Doc Fest in 2002, the Audience Award and a Special Mention at Maremma Doc Festival in 2002, the "Cinemavvenire" Prize for Best Film at Genova Film Festival in 2005, and the award for Best Documentary at the Archipelago festival in 2011.
