Djaka Souaré is an actress and producer of African and French descent, born in Paris. She started her career at a young age, performing in theater before transitioning to film & TV. At 17, under the direction of Claudia Stavinsky, she was cast as the witty Anita in West Side Story and performed at the legendary Chatelet Theater. She then spent a year immersed at the Performing Arts Academy of Skyline High near San Francisco. Djaka is also a writer and filmmaker. She directed her first short film Jazz in Wakanda in 2018). She starred in 2019 TriBeCa Film Festival Founders Award winner, Phillip Youmans’s short film Nairobi, which premiered on Solange Knowles’ platform Saint-Heron in the summer of 2019. Djaka made her second short film For Life, in 2019, which is a comedy about two friends connected in life, and in death. The short film was shot with an all female crew and cast for the Women's Week end Film Challenge.
