Alice Aterianus-Owanga is an anthropologist, currently a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at University of Geneva and University of Cape Town. Over the last ten years, she has been focusing on different types of music and dance practices in Africa and the African diaspora (mainly in Gabon, South Africa, and the Senegalese diaspora in Europe). She is also a documentary filmmaker, using audiovisual media to disseminate some of her research results, and to develop collaborative approaches. She has completed four documentary films that have been presented in various film festivals.
