Somewhere in the ancient southern hemisphere of Africa, there is a small cave that is home to a humble family. For generations, they have lived here and peppered the walls with colorful art and stories. One day, their son goes missing, and the family abandons their small cave in search of him. The cave is lost to time and becomes dilapidated, faded, and corroded. Finally, after thousands of years of silence, the home is rediscovered by an adventurous little boy, who happens to be a very distant relative.

About the Director

Jeani Varty

Jeani Varty was born in a tiny town in the Vaal called Henley on Klip, a small, tucked-away place buzzing with artists. Growing up and being surrounded by such amazing talents, she took to art with feverish enthusiasm. Over the years, she developed a deep love and appreciation for animation, and decided to pursue it after high school. She graduated from AFDA with a Bachelor of Motion Picture, majoring in Animation and Screenwriting. She dove headfirst into the industry as a freelance storyboard artist for four years, and this afforded her the chance to work with a variety of studios, both nationally and internationally. This journey led her to join the Tshimologong team, where she coaches story boarders and assists with teaching visual development. She has also received training in Paris at Gobelins, l'école de l'image. In 2020, she wrote, directed, and animated her debut production, From the Cave’s Mouth, with a talented crew of seven interns.
