Hlumela Matika is a South African filmmaker based in Cape Town. She works in narrative, ethnography, and hybrid storytelling. She obtained her undergraduate degree from AFDA in film production in 2016. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and obtained her MFA from Syracuse University, upstate New York, graduating in 2019. She is an alumnus of the Berlinale Durban Talents and the International Film Academy (IFA) 2019. Her narrative films have screened at various festivals, including Edinburgh, Leeds International Film Festival, and New York African Film Festival.
